This film was made in the height of the Coronavirus Pandemic and was inspired by the effects quarantine had on social life and repetitive actions experienced during this time along with a lucid dream that took five or six times waking up in the dream before I actually woke up from it. We did this with a crew of under ten people and shot everything at distance to keep everyone safe, which we saw as an obstacle to use as a creative element within the story.
This pilot was created as an improvisation project based on characters from Erick Melanson's Suzie's Wong (2018). We shot this guerilla style at our college house where we used the final clip of Larry that I shot prior to filming on my iPhone where he exclaims, "all yeh gettin' is the cans," as inspiration for how to create a story around that single shot. What lead up to this wild display from Rick's character? And so the Shitshow was born.
This was the first film I was able to focus solely on the production and storytelling through camera movement, editing, and directing actors. I wrote this story to showcase some of the common life problems that surrounded me and my fellow students.
My first go at a Narrative film. I knew I had a passion for acting and even though I knew little about the process at the time I was confident enough to give it a try to a story that was loosely based on my actual life at the time.
